Transitioning to a new eLearning system

by McCormick Center Admin

June 8, 2017

GENERAL INFORMATION

The McCormick Center is excited to announce that our eLearning system will soon be upgraded to a more modern, efficient Learning Management System (LMS) beginning this summer. That means a lot for us from an administration perspective but our goal is for the transition to be a smooth, seamless one for all participants. However, we recognize that change can be difficult—it is not without its bumps in the road and comes with many questions. Should any problems arise throughout this process, please let us know immediately. Our eLearning team will look into it as soon as possible. Some questions you may have about the transition are answered below.

WHY?

Our current system is not as technologically savvy as we know it could be. We are continually looking for ways to improve the participants’ experience and improve our internal workflows in order to better support our participants. We believe we’ve found the right fit for a new LMS that will provide participants with:

  • The ability to login and complete the modules from mobile devices
  • Easier access to module scores for participants
  • Easier access to additional professional development opportunities we offer
  • An overall better user experience

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN

This transition will take place in the summer. There will be a period of overlap between our current LMS and the new LMS. This allows us to transition current participants into the new system. The current LMS will be operating through the end of the summer. We will transition essential data from the current LMS into the new LMS. Keep an eye out for additional details regarding the details of the transition.

Additional information will be provided as the official switch to the new LMS nears. In the meantime, we are in the process of setting up a transition FAQ page on the Aim4Excellence website. You may be able to find an immediate answer to your transition questions by checking this page. We understand that this transition will impact each of our users in different ways. If you can’t find the answer there, please direct your questions to helpdesk@McCormickCenter.nl.edu.
