Training/Event Description:

States are intentional in selecting assessment tools for their QRIS, but the validity of the tools may be lost in translation from selection to implementation. This begs the question, how is effectiveness impacted when tools are used in ways they were not intended to be? This session will begin with a provocative overview of how various QRIS have embedded or neglected to embed the reliable use of tools in their systems. Research on important considerations for maintaining the reliability and validity of quality measures will be shared and the presenters will offer key components to weigh when developing or revising a system for assessing quality. Participants will leave knowing key elements to include when designing a realistic QRIS without jeopardizing the integrity of the tools.
