Administrators in Arizona’s state-wide QRIS (at the highest level) and those in public pre-K are required to have a bachelor’s degree and at least 30 semester hours of college credit in early childhood education. These criteria are supported by three different degree programs from two universities and one community college. In addition, there are 25 elementary principal degree programs at 14 institutions. Directors of child care centers can meet licensing requirements through a combination of education, credentials, and experience with as little as 6 semester hours of college credit in early childhood or child development. Arizona does not offer a statewide director credential.
